  • The Taber Shear / Scratch Tester utilizes three interchangeable tools, including the S-20 Tungsten Carbide Contour Shear Tool; Conical Diamond Tool (3 mil or 3.5 mil radius point); or Diamond Scratch Tool.

  • The Taber Linear Abraser requires the optional Scratch Kit which uses the same Conical Diamond Tools as the Shear / Scratch Tester. Or, the Universal Head can be used to which non-standard materials can be used to generate the damage (i.e. scouring pad, cardboard, sandpaper, etc.).

  • The Taber Multi-Finger Scratch / Mar Tester uses either 1.0 mm diameter steel pins for scratching or 7.0 mm diameter steel tips for marring.

  • To prevent wrinkling, flexible materials should be mounted to a Specimen Mounting Card.
